Celebrating the Life of a Zionist

Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day to everyone. Dr. King was truly an amazing man. As we celebrate his legacy this week, I think we should all reiterate our commitment to the continued struggle that Dr. King made his life's mission. In addition to his work as a civil rights activist in America, Dr. King was very involved in Zionism, a cause he held close to his heart. Dr. King is best known for he refutations of “politically-correct” attacks against The Jewish State and its People.

The following quote is taken from a speech that Dr. King gave at Harvard back in 1968: “You declare that you do not hate Jews, you are merely Anti-Zionist…Zionism is nothing less than the dream and ideal of the Jewish people returning to live in their own land. What is Anti-Zionism? It is discrimination against the Jews, because they are Jews. In short, it is Anti-Semitism.”

So for all of us that hold a special place for him in our hearts, let us remember that Dr. King was an ardent Zionist and a true friend of Am Yisrael. And at some point in the future when we meet a person who tells us that they don't hate Jews but that Israel is an oppressive apartheid state...let us go ahead and kick their ass for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
